Year 8 and pupils from Year 13 visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park this month. The weather was beautiful, perfect for wandering around the park sketching the wonderful sculpture on display. There are many works around the site by famous Artists including sculpture by Thomas Houseago, Henry Moore and Ai Weiwei.
The underground gallery this year hosts the beautiful clever and facinating cedar wood carvings by the artist Ursula von Rydingsvard. I have never seen work quite like this, and the way it has been constructed is facinating. She has recently developed an allergy to cedar wood dust due to contact with the material for such a prolonged period of time. Ursula is 71 years old and still working today. A truly inspirational artist!
